African Pride

Just because you are a proud African, that doesn’t give you the right to be a blind African. The majority on this continent live on less than a dollar a day. Have no access to clean water, & are trapped in refugee camps. Many are enslaved in the Middle East, or drowning during their escape into the seas, because of no opportunities in their home nations. Families are selling girls under 18 to be married for less than $5. The majority of Africa is living in poverty. We can not continue being proud in the hope of tomorrow, but being blind to the hell of today.

We can not switch the focus of the story of the majority to the minority, when the majority’s story is still incomplete. We must work hard to create the tomorrow we desire, even if it requires being ashamed and embarrassed of the conditions that the majority of Africans live in today.
